HONE was contracted by Caritas Kigoma Diocese as a consultant to train farmers on  Post-Harvest Management (PHM) at Rusesa and Mwilanvya villages in Kasulu Town District.


The training was conducted in March 2024 for 3 days based on practical skills of pre-harvesting, harvesting method, pre-cooling and cooling, handling practices, transportation, storage structure and packaging for markets to consumers.

In practical skills, farmers were trained on how to use PICs bag, silos and natural methods of storing grains as well as proper drying and moisture content measuring. In vegetable handling farmers were taught how to use Zero Energy Cooler Chamber for storing leafy and fruity vegetables, block-box for carrying fruits and Solar Drier for drying leafy vegetables.
